About us

Established in 1635, Eötvös Loránd University, commonly known as ELTE, is the largest university in Hungary with 36,000 students and covering fields including natural and social sciences, law, humanities, and education. According to international rankings, it belongs to the top 2-3% of universities internationally and it is the best university in Hungary. (Further information)

Established in 2017 as an Institute, the Faculty of Economics (FE) is a recent addition to ELTE, but it is a strong contender for being the No. 1 among Hungarian business and economics programmes.

Within three years we have become the single most sought-after School for Business Economics Master’s training in Hungary, and for Bachelor’s, a Top3 provider with respect to size, with the highest minimum points for entry. Our MBA programme was the most popular programme in Hungary in 2020 and 2021.

As a new institution (which became a faculty just after four years in 2021) we provide a modern approach to business education, promoting responsible leadership and sustainable business practices in close collaboration between students and teaching and research staff.

Balancing the needs of students, the institutional constraints, and possibilities we strive for an effective and nurturing learning environment that is attractive to high-ability and diligent students to maximize their potentials. Primarily targeting international business environments, our trainings put special emphasis on social sciences (improving the relationship between business and stakeholder communities), legal issues (preparing students for dynamic global environments) and communications skills (helping the development of transversal skills and internationalisation in ethical workplaces).

Programmes taught at the Faculty of Economics include two English-language bachelor programmes (International Business Economics and Finance and Accounting), two Hungarian language bachelor programmes, and four Hungarian Master’s programmes (including an MBA).

We are committed to English-language teaching; not only are two of the BA programmes available in English, about 50% of all undergraduate courses are offered in English as well. The fact that the Faculty of Economics welcomes foreign students from over 50 universities every semester also demonstrates as well as boosts the international character and appeal of the Faculty.
